Teaching fundamental social-emotional skills.

PEDALS partners with early childhood teachers and agencies to help build children’s social-emotional skills, increasing kindergarten readiness.

Researched-informed. Relationship-based.

If you ask teachers what skills young children need to succeed in kindergarten, social-emotional skills will be at the top of the list. PEDALS research-informed programming is uniquely designed to support educators and improve young children’s emotional competence and abilities.

PEDALS is designed to support all children, educators, and caregivers, accommodating a child’s social-emotional needs, wherever they are in their growth. Education professionals will appreciate the inherent flexibility in the program and its responsiveness to each classroom’s needs. The PEDALS community of help addresses the needs of children and ensures they and their families are connected to appropriate support.

The PEDALS low- to no-cost program comes with a stipend for additional materials, offers in-class coaching, and has a track record of positive outcomes.

Partnering with PEDALS.

PEDALS customizes its approach to meet the needs of both students and educators. We emphasize developmentally inclusive practices that benefit a diverse student population, including those who are neurotypical and those who may not be.

PEDALS provides partners with:
  • Evidenced-based social-emotional curriculum
  • In-class coaching (typically three hours per month)
  • ASQ-SE – a validated screening tool for social-emotional development
  • Classroom stipend for social-emotional materials
  • Ongoing support, improvement, and evaluation

The PEDALS program spans two years and is available to school districts, center-based and in-home childcare providers, and early childhood education agencies. Teachers are supported by coaches who thoroughly understand the PEDALS approach, ensuring that educators are well-equipped to foster a supportive and enriching learning environment for kindergarten readiness.

Expectations for schools.

Schools partnering with PEDALS are expected to create a collaborative environment for continuous improvement. After a thorough three-hour observation session, administrators allow teachers to attend monthly meetings with their PEDALS coach. Site leaders attend monthly strategy meetings with PEDALS to ensure alignment and progress.

As part of the program, schools agree to participate in data collection focused on teacher experiences and outcomes. This will help ensure the program’s effectiveness while maintaining student data privacy.

Data-driven evaluation.

Teachers and administrators can use the PEDALS data platform to streamline reporting and quickly evaluate progress. Through the platform, teachers can report on curriculum progress, fidelity, and behavior challenges on a weekly basis. At the same time, coaches use a tracking form created by PEDALS to observe teachers’ use of social-emotional growth strategies and students’ use of curriculum strategies monthly. The PEDALS data platform then collects, analyzes, and presents the data in a clear and easy-to-understand format.

PEDALS helps education programs improve curriculum quality, retain top teacher talent, and ensure student success.
